According to Gillette Venus, for example, all Gillette Venus replacement blades fit the reusable handle of the Extra Smooth Swirl. Exceptions are disposable razors, where the handle and blade are permanently attached, and, according to Gillette Venus USA, the handle of the pubic hair and skin razor. Does every Venus blade fit every Venus handle?
In principle, yes. On the German product page for the Extra Smooth Swirl, Gillette Venus writes that all Gillette Venus replacement blades fit the reusable handle. On the US page, it states that the Extra Smooth Sensitive blades fit all reusable Venus handles – with the exception of the handle for the “Pubic Hair & Skin” razor.

- Does not fit: Venus disposable razors, where the handle and blade are permanently attached, and the handle of the Venus pubic hair and skin razor.

How to identify your handle
- The series name “Venus” is usually on the handle or on the packaging of your previous blades.
- If the blade head can be released by pressing a button on the handle, you have a handle with an exchangeable blade – this is what replacement blades are intended for.
- If the head is permanently attached to the handle, it is a disposable razor. There are no replacement blades for this.
Changing the blade – here is how
- Press the button on the handle. According to Gillette, the old blade will release as soon as you press it.
- Attach the new blade. Hold it by the plastic sides, not the cutting edges, and press it onto the handle until it is secure.
- Dispose of the old blade safely. Wrap it in paper or collect it in a sturdy box and then dispose of it in the residual waste – more on this in our guide Disposing of razor blades.

- Prepare the skin with warm water and apply shaving gel generously.
- Shave legs from the ankle upwards, underarms in multiple directions, and the bikini line in the direction of hair growth first.
- Afterward, rinse with cool water, gently pat dry, and apply alcohol-free care.
When is a new blade due?
Gillette Venus recommends changing after five to ten shaves. When shaving the body, a large area is shaved in one go – those who shave their legs often will likely need to change sooner. At the latest, when the blade pulls or the skin becomes reddened afterwards, it is time for a change.
